What to expect at your appointment
Waxing is straightforward, and we keep you comfortable throughout. Here is how we help your skin respond well:
- Come with clean skin and, where possible, hair a few millimetres long so the wax can grip properly.
- Most people describe a brief sting as the wax lifts, which settles quickly, and we work efficiently to keep it comfortable.
- Some pinkness or warmth afterwards is normal and usually calms within a few hours.
- We suggest gentle aftercare for a day or two: avoid heat, heavy exercise and harsh products so the skin can settle.
Waxing suits most skin, though not all. If your skin is very sensitive, sunburnt, broken, or you use certain skin medications, let us know first so we can keep you safe and comfortable.
Waxing, or long-lasting hair reduction?
Waxing is a lovely, low-commitment way to stay smooth, and many people are perfectly happy staying with it. If you find yourself booking wax after wax and would rather cut down for good, it may be worth talking through IPL hair reduction instead.
IPL (intense pulsed light) works over a course to gradually reduce how much hair grows back, for long-lasting hair reduction rather than a temporary tidy-up. It does not remove hair permanently, and results vary from person to person, so the best way to decide is a friendly chat about which path suits you. How long does hair need to be before a wax?
As a general guide, a few millimetres of growth (roughly the length of a grain of rice) gives the wax enough to grip, so we recommend leaving it a couple of weeks since your last wax or shave. If you are not sure, book anyway and we will let you know at your appointment whether it is ready or worth a little longer.
Does waxing hurt?
