Why some pigmentation clears sooner than the rest

Why some pigmentation clears sooner than the rest

If two marks sit side by side on your skin and one fades with treatment while the other lingers, the difference usually comes down to how deep the pigment sits.

Pigment does not all sit at one level

Skin can hold pigment at more than one depth. Some of it sits closer to the surface, and some sits lower down. What you notice in the mirror is the surface story - and that is not always the whole picture.

Why depth changes the approach

Pigment nearer the surface tends to respond more readily than pigment that sits deeper. So two marks that look almost identical can behave quite differently once treatment begins. It is also why judging a mark from a photo, or treating every spot the same way, so often leads to a flat result. The one that clears quickly and the one that needs more patience can look the same to the eye.

Where light-based treatment fits

IPL Photo Rejuvenation is one of the options we use for pigmentation and sun-related uneven tone. It suits some patterns of pigmentation better than others, which is exactly why we look at your skin properly before suggesting anything. The aim is to match the approach to what is actually there, not to what a mark appears to be at a glance.

The honest starting point

Pigmentation rewards patience and a plan built around your skin, rather than a single quick fix. Understanding where your pigment sits is the first step - and that is a conversation worth having in person.

If uneven tone has been on your mind, book a Skin Rejuvenation Consultation to have your pigmentation assessed in person and talk through whether light-based treatment suits your skin.
